How do we know our clock is accurate

When we glance at our watch, we know the time displayed is generally correct. Yeah, maybe its out by a few seconds or a minute or two if its a wind up clock. But we easily reset and get it back on track.

We reach out to a more accurate time source and update our device.

Furthermore, if our clock is out by a little bit, we don’t worry too much as the small variation doesn’t impact us much. We know there is a source we can rely in to re-adjust.

In the back of our mind, we know we are not going to lose track of time measurement, where we eventually are out by hours, days, weeks or months.

Its our yardstick for time. Its a controlled data point.

Encyclopedia

Likewise, we used an encyclopedia as our point of reference years ago. Information was created by educated and trained people in the retrospective fields. Gathered from research papers, university documents or other sources to ensure its correct at time of writing.

With the rise of the Internet we see these reference tools disappearing away, often hidden and used for school reference through a digital version.

Our once widely used content and information yard stick has disappeared and been replaced by Internet web sites.
